Pembrokeshire Llama Sanctuary

Ethelred

Ethelred arrived with us at the end of March 2023. He is approximately one year old and is doing well with halter training (we train all our llamas to accept a halter so that they are desensitised and easier to handle during vet visits). He is still very shy and we are working on building trust, but he is improving every day and it is a pleasure to come out and work with him in the mornings.

 Jeremy

Jeremy arrived with us at the end of March 2023 with Ethelred. He is approximately one year old and is a very calm, gentle boy. He is doing really well with halter training and we have taken him on a few short walks across the valley. We think he will likely be a good patient llama who will do well meeting local schools groups as part of our sanctuary work.

 Bojack

Bojack arrived at the end of March 2023 with Ethelred and Jeremy, and is also approximately one year old. He is a very noble looking llama, and whilst halter trained, is not as desensitised as Ethelred and Jeremy, but we are confident with a bit more time and patience we will gain his trust.

Jojo Llama

Jojo came to us at approximately 8 months of age. He was very skinny and boney and we were concerned about his condition. A bit off TLC and access to lots of fresh grazing has transformed him into a happy mischievous little llama who is often seen causing trouble amongst the bigger boys!

Gordon

Gordon is part guanaco - the wild undomesticated cousin to the llama in South America. Guanacos are more slender and agile than llamas, and as you might expect, a bit more feral and less trusting. Gordon came to us in poor condition but we were soon able to improve the situation when we realised just how greedy he was! Gordon is always one of the first in line for breakfast and this has led to him becoming very friendly and trusting - he will do anything for food!

 Bob

Bob is part guanaco - more so than Gordon - and is our resident escape artist. Bob can clear most fences and gates from a standstill. Luckily he values the company of his fellow camelids, so rarely ventures very far. Bob is an incredibly sweet sensitive boy, although very untrusting of humans and will usually keep his distance. We work every day to earn his trust and respect.
